Brandy Norwood Teases Return to “I Know What You Did Last Summer” Reboot: “Hopefully”

Brandy Norwood, celebrated for her roles in both music and film, has sparked excitement among fans of the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise. As news of a reboot circulates, Norwood has hinted at a possible reprisal of her iconic character from I Still Know What You Did Last Summer.

In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Norwood addressed the reboot, stating, “I heard some things about… So, hopefully.” This ambiguous yet hopeful response has fueled speculation about her return to the slasher series, over two decades after her appearance in the 1998 sequel.

Norwood famously played Karla Wilson in I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, surviving the film’s events alongside Jennifer Love Hewitt’s character. Reflecting on her character’s fate, Norwood humorously noted, “it was in the contract” that Karla would not meet a grim end.

When questioned about how Karla Wilson might reappear in the reboot, Norwood admitted she hadn’t fully considered the specifics. “I don’t know how she would come back,” Norwood pondered, “I haven’t thought about that yet but I know that she should come back. She should definitely come back.” This enthusiastic endorsement of her character’s return suggests a strong willingness on Norwood’s part to engage with the new project.

Adding to the anticipation, Norwood revealed that there has been outreach regarding her involvement. “So, we’ll see what happens,” she concluded, leaving fans eagerly awaiting further developments.

While she hasn’t been in contact with Jennifer Love Hewitt recently, Norwood expressed warmth and admiration for her former co-star. She stated she “would love to see her” and recalled Hewitt being “always lovely to work with,” hinting at a positive dynamic that could extend to the reboot should Hewitt also return.

Interestingly, Freddie Prinze Jr., another original cast member, has also indicated ongoing discussions about reprising his role in the reboot. He lauded director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, highlighting her as a promising figure in the industry. “I like Jen Robinson very much as a director and as a person. I think people like her are the future of this business,” Prinze Jr. told Us Weekly. “So there’s a lot of good things that make me want to do the movie. I’m motivated, I know they’re motivated. I know both sides are trying to make it work. And hopefully we do.”

The reboot, helmed by Robinson and slated for release on July 18, 2025, has already cast rising stars including Camila Mendes, Madelyn Cline, Sarah Pidgeon, Tyriq Withers, and Jonah Hauer-King in leading roles, signaling a fresh direction for the franchise while potentially honoring its legacy with returning stars. Deadline previously reported that Jennifer Love Hewitt is also in talks to return, further fueling hopes for a reunion of beloved original cast members in this highly anticipated reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer.
